I Breathe in Strength and Breathe Out Tension

I Breathe in Strength and Breathe Out Tension

There’s a sacred rhythm in our breath. A conversation between the body and the soul. Every inhale carries the potential to renew. Every exhale holds the power to release. When we breathe with intention, we aren’t just taking in oxygen. We’re inviting in peace, grounding, and clarity.

“I breathe in strength and breathe out tension.”

It’s a simple phrase, but it’s one that can shift an entire day.

This affirmation is about reclaiming the power of your breath... the one thing you’ve had since birth and the one thing that connects every version of who you are. As mothers, nurturers, creators, and women, we often hold so much. We carry the weight of expectations, responsibilities, emotions, and dreams. Without realizing it, we start breathing shallow... living in survival mode instead of in flow.

But when you pause and intentionally breathe, you remind your nervous system that you are safe. You tell your body, I am here. I am okay. I am strong enough for this moment.

Affirmation Practice

Take a deep breath in. Feel your lungs expand. Imagine drawing strength from the earth beneath you, the same way trees pull power through their roots.

Inhale: I am strong. I am capable. I am grounded.

Exhale: I release what I cannot control. I let go of tension and fear.

Repeat this three times. Notice how your shoulders drop. Notice how your heartbeat steadies. Notice how your thoughts begin to quiet down.

This affirmation isn’t just words. It’s a daily practice of returning home to yourself. You can whisper it during early morning stretches, repeat it while nursing your baby, or say it silently during moments of overwhelm. Let your breath remind you of the strength you already possess.

Journal Prompt

Take out your journal and write at the top of the page:

“I breathe in strength and breathe out tension.”

Then reflect on the following:

  1. What does “strength” mean to me right now? Is it physical, emotional, spiritual, or a mix of all three?

  2. What am I holding onto that feels heavy or tight in my body?

  3. When was the last time I allowed myself to truly rest and release?

  4. How can I use my breath as a tool to bring more peace into my daily routine?

Let your answers flow freely. There’s no right or wrong here, only honesty and release.

Your breath is your anchor. When life feels uncertain or heavy, come back to this affirmation.

Let it live in your heart, on your mirror, or even as a gentle reminder on your phone screen:

“I breathe in strength and breathe out tension.”

Because even in the busiest, hardest, or most tender moments, your breath is always waiting to bring you back to peace.
