Creating Art, Affirmations, and a Book While Doula-ing, Mothering, and Leading My Community
Sometimes I look at my life and laugh. Not because it’s easy, but because it’s full. My days stretch across so many worlds: I’m a doula holding space for new mothers, a mom raising my own children, a community leader showing up for others, and an artist-writer still finding time to pour from my creative well.
It’s not balance, it’s rhythm. Some days, the rhythm sounds like baby giggles and birth playlists. Other days, it’s affirmations scrawled in notebooks between client calls and bedtime stories. And sometimes, it’s quiet. The kind of quiet where art and words finally find their way to the page.
Art as Therapy, Art as Testimony
Art has always been my sanctuary. Whether it’s paint, collage, or digital work, each piece becomes a reflection of what I’m processing: joy, exhaustion, rebirth, and resilience. I don’t create to escape motherhood or doula work. I create because of them.
Every brushstroke feels like a prayer for the women I serve and the one I’m still becoming. My art reminds me that I am not just here to nurture others. I’m here to stay connected to myself, too.
Affirmations That Anchor Me
Between appointments and family life, I’ve learned to talk to myself kindly. I keep sticky notes on the mirror, whispers of grace on my phone screen, and short phrases that travel with me everywhere.
“You are creating life in more ways than one.”
“Your presence is powerful.”
“Rest is still productive.”
These affirmations have become part of my daily rhythm, not just for me but for the women I serve. Sometimes I’ll write them on cards or art prints to gift to my clients. Small reminders that we are allowed to feel powerful and soft at the same time.
Writing My Story, and Helping Others Write Theirs
Working on my book has been a slow, sacred journey. Between births, homeschooling, and community events, I write in bursts. It’s not always neat, but it’s real. The kind of writing that comes from lived experience, not perfection.
My story isn’t just about me. It’s about motherhood, healing, faith, and community. These are the things that have shaped me and the women I walk beside. I hope it becomes a mirror for others to see their own power reflected back.
Leading and Loving My Community
Volunteering and community leadership aren’t side projects. They’re extensions of my purpose. Whether I’m helping organize a walk for maternal health or creating space for mothers to rest and be seen, I’m reminded that community care is sacred work.
It’s all connected: the doula work, the art, the affirmations, the writing, the leadership. Each part feeds the other. Every time I help someone heal, I heal too. Every time I create, I open space for someone else to believe they can, too.
The Lesson in It All
If there’s one thing this season has taught me, it’s that creativity and care can coexist. You don’t have to pause one dream to live another. You can build, nurture, and create, all while staying present in your purpose.
It’s not about doing it all. It’s about doing what matters with intention, faith, and a little bit of messy magic.
To every mother, artist, and leader reading this, your life is a canvas, and every act of love is art.
